To further assess whether loss of hepatic molecular identity might contribute to human liver dysfunction, we compared LIVER‐ID TF gene expression levels between livers from deceased septic patients with serum bilirubin levels below (Bil < 2) or above (Bil > 2) 2 mg/dl [i.e., the most commonly used cut‐off in clinics to define liver dysfunction in septic patients (Vincent et al, 1996)]. This evidence concerns the gene TF and Decreased liver function.
