Among 174 COVID-19 patients in Wuhan, China, people with diabetes had a greater inflammatory response (higher CRP, ESR and IL-6, and relative neutrophilia and lymphopaenia), higher incidence of coagulopathy (higher D-dimer levels), metabolic derangements (hyperglycaemia, transaminitis), severe pneumonia (higher radiological scores) and higher mortality rate, compared with those without [27]. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and COVID-19.
