SOD1 and familial hypercholesterolemia: Previous studies in vivo indicated that feeding the animal with a high‐fat diet could lead to an increase of free radical production (Dobrian, Davies, Prewitt, & Lauterio, 2000; Feng, Yu, Ying, Hua, & Dai, 2011; Rony, Ajith, Nima, & Janardhanan, 2014) and a decrease of SOD activity (Bagchi, Bagchi, Hassoun, & Stohs, 1995), followed by hypercholesterolemia and oxidative stress (Ohkawa, Ohishi, & Yagi, 1979).
