S. aureus Newman parental strain increased the bacterial burden, in comparison to the NewmanΔlgt strain, among both the WT (P = 0.01) and the TLR2−/− mice groups (P = 0.008) on day 10 post-infection (Fig. 4), suggesting that staphylococcal Lpp enhances the bacterial survival in mice, which is independent of TLR2. This evidence concerns the gene LPP and infection.
