A recent sex-specific genome-wide association analysis [29] on a dataset of 13,230 patients (8193 men, 5087 women) with RCC underlined a gender-related association for four single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) on genes DPF3, EPAS1, SAMD5, and BTBD11. DPF3 is a chromatin-remodeling complex associated gene related to a greater risk of RCC in women. Here, DPF3 is linked to renal cell carcinoma.
