As in juvenile idiopathic arthritis, an autoinflammatory-mediated disease, IL-1β also seems to play a strategic role in SARS-CoV-2 infection, by activating the NLRP3 inflammasome, as documented by the increased IL-1β levels in lymphocytes and in the sera of infected patients [18,51]. This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
