In agreement with these previous reports, the adherence to Mediterranean diet has been related to higher methylation levels of ZNF577. When the association between methylation levels of ZNF577 were evaluated according to the consumption of specific foods included in the Mediterranean diet, the highest methylation levels of ZNF577 were shown in the breast cancer patients who consumed the recommended amounts of vegetables, legumes, and fish. This evidence concerns the gene ZNF577 and breast cancer.
