The chemerin/CMKLR1 axis has been proposed to regulate the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome in Kupffer cells in a mouse model of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (Zhang et al., 2017), and a rat model of limb ischemia/reperfusion-acute lung injury (Zou et al., 2019). This evidence concerns the gene RARRES2 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
