In this regard, it seems that MS patients present alterations in several components of the glycolytic pathway, including elevated lactate levels [5] in the blood, increased activity of enolase, pyruvate kinase and aldolase in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) [6] accompanied by the presence of anti-glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) autoantibodies in the CSF, leading to downregulation of glycolytic pathways. This evidence concerns the gene GAPDH and myeloid sarcoma.
