It has been proposed that the correlation (or not) between IgG/IgM in malaria may reflect inherent structural differences between antigens, including the relative conservation of the epitopes that are targeted; for example, strong correlations between IgG and IgM was observed to MSP2, whereas this was not seen with MSP1-19 and AMA-1 [53].
