Blocking of 16:0‐to‐18:0 fatty‐acid elongation in mice by Elovl6 knockout was found to inhibit progression of metabolic disorders through alterations of fatty‐acid structures, i.e., increased 16:0 and decreased 18:0‐to‐24:0 levels (Matsuzaka et al, 2007). Here, ELOVL6 is linked to metabolic disease.
