The immune contexture, which is dependent on the density, composition, functional state, and organisation of the leukocytes infiltrating the tumour, was associated with the prognosis and predicted the response to treatment.11 The Immunoscore, which was established based on the densities of CD3+ and cytotoxic CD8+ T cells in the tumour and the invasion margin, provided a reliable estimate of the risk of recurrence in patients with colon cancer.15 In gastric cancer, Immunoscore could effectively predict recurrence and survival and supplemented the prognostic value of the TNM staging system. This evidence concerns the gene CD8A and colonic neoplasm.
