Specifically GBA1, SCARB2, TMEM175, CTSB, GALC, and ATP6V0A1 were found in the last two GWASs (Chang et al., 2017; Nalls et al., 2018) to be associated with an increase in the risk for developing PD, while ATP13A2 is linked to familial PD. The gene discussed is GALC; the disease is Parkinson disease.
