In 2016 WHO classification, mutations in the epigenetic modulator genes isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 or 2 (IDH1 or IDH2) and codeletion of chromosomal arms 1p/19q (1p/19q codel) have become key biomarkers for glioma classification (27, 28). This evidence concerns the gene IDH1 and central nervous system cancer.
