Saini et al. (89) found that γδ T cells showed a higher frequency in both T1R and T2R reaction patients as compared to stable patients, and they also showed that these γδ T cells produced a notable amount of IL-17 and IFN-γ, which may explain the mechanism that γδ T cells contribute to leprosy reactions (89). The gene discussed is IL17A; the disease is leprosy.
