MTOR and pulmonary arterial hypertension: Further support for our findings comes from reports demonstrating that the inhibition of mTOR under chronic hypobaric hypoxic conditions resulted in the prevention of RVH in an animal model (Paddenberg et al., 2007) and that increased AMPK activity and decreased mTOR activity attenuated RVH in pulmonary-artery-hypertension-induced rats (Deng et al., 2017).
