The monocytic response against intracellular bacterial infection such as MAP is usually mediated by TLR2 receptor through the recruitment of cytoplasmic adaptor protein and activation of intracellular signaling molecules, which lead to phagosome maturation and synthesis of pro-inflammatory cytokines like TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8, IL-12, and IL-23 [15,16].
