While DNA methylation in genes MDF1, SSTR2, CMTM3, TGFB2, and NDRG4 is a potential marker for the detection of colorectal cancer in the early stages of its development, hypermetylation in gene CLDN11 is associated with metastasis and poor prospect of patient survival with colorectal cancer. This evidence concerns the gene CLDN11 and colorectal cancer.
