Most patients with oral cancers initially present with locally advanced disease, which often requires a multidisciplinary approach involving surgery, radiation, and/or chemotherapy (5-fluorouracil, carboplatin or cisplatin, and taxol-based therapies and irinotecan in the most advanced cases) and recently monoclonal antibody targeted against epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). Here, EGFR is linked to lip and oral cavity carcinoma.
