In contrast to other studies demonstrating an inhibition of IFN signaling by VHSV Ia and IVa NV proteins, we demonstrated an augmentation of type I IFN signaling genes by the IVb NV protein, and showed a decrease in IFN mRNA and secretion with deletion of IVb NV or IVb NV-ATG during viral infection (Figure 1D–H). This evidence concerns the gene IFNA1 and viral infectious disease.
