Menon et al. (2012) detected sporadic HCC development in a liver-specific TSC1 knockout (LTsc1KO) mouse model and proposed that the liver damaging, inflammatory cycles of necrosis and regeneration may contribute to the development of HCC in LTsc1KO mice. However, in this study, we did not find any obvious histological evidence of inflammation, necrosis and fibrosis in LTsc1KO HCC mice. The gene discussed is TSC1; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
