MICU2 and Alzheimer disease: We evaluated 25 publicly available microarray and RNA-Sequencing datasets from the Mount Sinai Brain Bank (MSBB)43 and the Religious Orders Study and Memory and Aging Project (ROSMAP)44 cohorts, and compared the transcript levels of mitochondrial Ca2+-related genes between subjects with AD (Braak stages V–VI) and control individuals (Braak stages 0–I–II), specifically MCU, MCUB, MCUR1, MICU1, MICU2, MICU3 and SMDT1 for mitochondrial Ca2+ influx, and SLC8B1 (encoding NCLX) for mitochondrial Ca2+ efflux.
