CFP and systemic lupus erythematosus: As the increased activity of GABAergic interneurons is hypothesized to be the primary cause of seizure onset in in vitro models and in some forms of seizures in vivo [53,56,57,58,59], the ability of CFP to prolong the kinetics of GABA-mediated currents can potentially outweigh its ability to inhibit them, which might lead to more efficient recruitment of glutamatergic neurons and result in more frequent SLE initiation.
