Non-small cell carcinoma and lung adenocarcinoma cells develop spontaneous resistance to pemetrexed, a folic acid analog inhibiting dihydrofolate reductase, thymidylate synthase, and glycinamide ribonucleotide formyltransferase, due to a significant increase in the level of UNG, and the suppression of UNG expression returns the sensitivity to normal [50,51]. Here, UNG is linked to non-small cell lung carcinoma.
