To determine if variation in MERS-CoV receptor levels in W+ and ΔORF5 MERS-CoV infected Efk cells could influence virus entry and subsequently, the amount of stimulatory viral genomic RNA and transcripts, we quantified the levels of MERS-CoV receptor, dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP4) transcripts in bat cells infected with W+ or ΔORF5 MERS-CoV 48 hours post infection. This evidence concerns the gene DPP4 and infection.
