Indeed, our observation that suppressing peripheral insulin signaling does not induce further impairments in glucose intolerance are consistent with previous observations that reducing insulin levels in obese mice induces fat mass loss preferentially from centrally located deposits without effecting glucose tolerance10, and indicate that adaptations associated with suppressing hyperinsulinemic signaling are not required prior to the onset of metabolic stress to prevent hepatic lipid accumulation.
