[107] reported that dermal microvascular EC obtained from SSc patients (SSc-dMVECs) exhibited not only a spindle-shaped appearance but also an existence of low levels of CD31 and VE-cadherin with abundant MFB markers (α-SMA+ stress fibers, S100A4, and type 1 collagen). The gene discussed is S100A4; the disease is systemic sclerosis.
