Paradoxical effects were observed for CB-839, an inhibitor of mitochondrial glutaminase (GLS1) that is currently tested in early clinical trials for treatment of several solid tumors multiple myeloma and acute myeloid leukemia38: while two of four neuroblastoma cell lines did not respond to CB-839, N-Myc expression combined with glutamine starvation enhanced metabolic activity of SK-N-SH and SHEP cells, however, this was not translating in increased cell proliferation (Supplemental Fig. 7). This evidence concerns the gene MYCN and plasma cell myeloma.
