The antimicrobial peptide LL37, which induces type I IFN production in pDCs (Nestle et al, 2005; Lande et al, 2007; Kahlenberg & Kaplan, 2013), and Staphylococcus aureus epidermal colonization, which has been suggested to trigger psoriasis development via induction of Th17 cells (Chang et al, 2018), are both capable of inducing IL-36 production in keratinocytes (Nguyen et al, 2012; Li et al, 2014; Liu et al, 2017; Nakagawa et al, 2017).
