Recently, Schneider et al. demonstrated a significantly higher infiltration of CD3+ and CD8+ T-lymphocytes in p16 positive oropharyngeal tumors, compared to p16 negative oropharyngeal, laryngeal, hypopharyngeal, and oral cavity carcinomas, but the CD8+ infiltrate did not correlate with patient’s prognosis [125]. This evidence concerns the gene CD8A and oral cavity carcinoma.
