CALCA and osteoporosis: Some previous reports have revealed that fracture of subchondral caused by osteoporosis would promote progression of OA (Horikawa et al., 2014; Osterberg et al., 2017); osteoporosis inhibition drugs, such as alendronate and calcitonin, would not only effectively inhibit bone resorption and subchondral bone remodeling, but also displayed chondral protective effects (Yeh et al., 2008; Botter et al., 2009; Bellido et al., 2011; Sondergaard et al., 2007).
