Many lncRNAs have recently been demonstrated to act as ceRNAs by competitively binding miRNA- responsive elements and impacting the expression levels of miRNA targets.41 For example, LncRNA PTAR competitively binds to miR-101-3p to regulate ZEB1 expression, and thus promote EMT and invasion–metastasis in serous ovarian cancer.42 LncRNA UICLM acts as a ceRNA by sponging miR-215 to regulate ZEB2 expression and promote colorectal cancer liver metastasis.43 RNA-FISH assays showed that HNF1A-AS1 was located in both the cytoplasm and nucleus. The gene discussed is UICLM; the disease is colorectal cancer.
