Interestingly, in our analysis of CCLE lung cancer cell lines, the immune-related gene signature-based risk score showed a high correlation with the IL-6/JAK/Stat3 pathway, which is consistent with the notion that antitumorigenic and protumorigenic immune and inflammatory mechanisms coexist in developing tumours, but if the tumour is not rejected, the protumorigenic effect dominates [24]. This evidence concerns the gene STAT3 and lung carcinoma.
