In this work, we demonstrated that doxorubicin-resistant/Pgp-expressing cancer cells are also resistant to the doxorubicin-induced ICD for at least two reasons: the lower accumulation of doxorubicin within the cells, due to the active drug efflux via Pgp, and the presence of Pgp itself that impairs the ability of CRT to recruit DCs and stimulate phagocytosis. This evidence concerns the gene CALR and cancer.
