Because internalized receptors are mainly destined for lysosomal degradation and the inactivation of EGFR signaling 49, we hypothesize that CMTM5 might inhibit the oncogenic potential of PCa cells by increasing EGFR internalization and guidance to the lysosomal pathway, which would account for the termination of EGF-induced signaling.
