Scavenger receptor B2 (SCARB2) (Yamayoshi et al., 2009) is expressed in human neurons and glial cells (Jiao et al., 2014) and EV-A71 infection of a transgenic mouse model expressing human SCARB2 caused ataxia, paralysis and death of the animals (Fujii et al., 2013). This evidence concerns the gene SCARB2 and cerebellar ataxia.
