Diabetic rats treated with ghrelin after the onset of diabetes showed an intact distribution pattern of ghrelin-containing cells similar to those in normal control (Figure 2i), while ghrelin-immuno-positive cells are few and randomly distributed in pancreatic islets of pre-diabetic ghrelin-treated rats, which is similar to what was observed in the diabetic control group (Figure 2j). This evidence concerns the gene GHRL and diabetes mellitus.
