Future directions for this work include: 1) examining multiple self-reported measures and the mediating effects of cardiovascular disease and other medical comorbidities; 2) determining the effect of these behaviors on risk of Alzheimer’s disease by examining imaging and cerebrospinal fluid markers of beta-amyloid, phosphorylated tau, and neurodegeneration as outcomes; and 3) determining whether health behaviors moderate risk of cognitive decline or AD based on genetic markers of AD. Here, MAPT is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
