The reason why overexpression of Diap1 did not rescue the germline-loss phenotype in HD is that we used UASt to drive expression of Diap1, which is activated by nos-Gal4 in the germline at the embryonic and larval stages (Supplementary Fig. 4), but not during gametogenesis36,37.
