After adjusting for age, sex, and hypertension, the higher NfL level was found to be associated with any stroke at baseline (aOR 2.02, 95% CI 1.06–3.87, p = 0.03), whereas the GFAP level had a borderline association (aOR 2.51, 95% CI 0.92–6.89, p = 0.07).
