Various tumor‐specific molecular alterations have been thoroughly studied in glioma, such as isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) mutations,20 O6‐methylguanine‐DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) promoter methylation,21 1p/19q co‐deletion, and epidermal growth factor receptor variant III (EGFR vIII) amplification, which have been identified as predictive and prognostic indicators and/or therapeutic targets for patients with glioma.22, 23. This evidence concerns the gene IDH1 and glioma.
