LEP and gestational diabetes: Leptin has been associated with pre‐eclampsia,5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 gestational diabetes (GDM),11, 12, 13 higher rates of neonatal morbidity, mortality, and neonatal ICU admissions in the offspring.14, 15 However, studies evaluating the relations between leptin and pregnancy outcomes have included only a small number of women and measured leptin levels during pregnancy, which cannot rule out reverse causality.
