NLRP3 and Other metabolic disease: Consistent with a role for the Nlrp3 inflammasome in cell metabolism [92], it has been shown that Nlrp3 is critical for the development of metabolic diseases, as Nlrp3 deficiency seems to have somewhat beneficial results in decreasing systemic inflammation, reducing immune cell activation, improving metabolism, and ameliorating resistance to insulin [87, 93–95].
