VEGFA and retinal detachment: The necessity of repeated intraocular injections (Patel et al., 2013) for the administration of current anti-VEGFA therapy reduces patient compliance (Polat et al., 2017) and results in rare but serious instances of eye damage caused by the injection procedure, such as endophthalmitis or retinal detachment (Falavarjani and Nguyen, 2013; Li et al., 2016b).
