Consistent with our finding, previous observational studies showed that the influence of hypertension on cognitive deficits, medial temporal atrophy, subcortical white matter lesions, cortical amyloid deposition, and tau phosphorylation was greater in APOE4 carriers than in APOE4 non-carriers (Peila et al., 2001; De Leeuw et al., 2004; Korf et al., 2004; Den Heijer et al., 2005; Kester et al., 2010; De Frias et al., 2014; Andrews et al., 2015; Oberlin et al., 2015; Jeon et al., 2019). This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and hypertensive disorder.
