In the group enriched with diabetic patients (6 out of 9 patients), seven proteasome genes (PSME4, PSMA7, PSMB4, PSMB6, PSMC4, PSMD7 and PSMD8) and three genes previously associated with common diabetes (SNX17, PARK7/DJ-1 and ATP5B) were highly expressed (Fig 4). This evidence concerns the gene PARK7 and diabetes mellitus.
