The echinoderm microtubule-associated protein-like 4 (EML4)-anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) fusion oncogene, arising from an inversion on chromosome 2, was discovered in 2007 and is found in 5% of non-small cell lung cancers (NSCLC) worldwide (4–6). Here, EML4 is linked to non-small cell lung carcinoma.
