VEGFA and myocardial infarction: In addition to the aforementioned small molecule regulatory proteins, certain growth factors, including Thymosin β4 (Tβ4), especially vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), should be delivered to heart tissue to reduced poor heart remodeling and improving ventricular function because of the poor cardiac remodeling that occurs later in the myocardial infarction (Anselmi et al., 2000).
