The FDA has approved several inhibitors that target the proto-oncogene serine/threonine-protein kinase BRAF mutated at V600E (BRAFV600E) and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MEK), as well as immune checkpoint inhibitors against cytotoxic T-lymphocyte associated protein 4 (CLTA-4) and PD-1 for the management of patients with advanced-stage melanoma [41].
