Interestingly, while MeCP2 has been proposed as a target of miR‐132 in neurological disorders like Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and Huntington and Parkinson's diseases,173 several studies reported unaltered levels of MeCP2 protein upon miR‐132 up‐regulation or down‐regulation,38, 174 a finding consistent with our observation, thus suggesting the existence of other alternative mechanisms regulating MeCP2 in the pathophysiology apart of miR‐132/212. The gene discussed is MECP2; the disease is autism spectrum disorder.
